A soft weekend at Valö in Göteborg Archipelago. Good friends, wine, food, some paddling, relaxing and just having a good time! And obviously too much time…
Trent, Patric and I paddled to Valö today. It was quite hard because we had both the wind and the current against us! I have started to test a drysuit from Ursuit. It feels really good to have a drysuit when it is getting colder in the water.
Trent is heading home and it is getting dark.

Last week has been really long because I have been longing to paddle my new surfski. The forecast was really good for surfski paddling today with winds from north about 10 m/s (37 km/h or 20 knots). Trent Victor and I decided to paddle downwind from Göteborg. My friend Maria was really nice and agreed to pick us up about 20 km south of Göteborg. When we arrived at the harbour the were hardly any wind at all. We changed our plans and went searching for waves from the bigger boats in the archipelago instead.

We got some really nice runs from the waves produced of a couple of boats. My top speed was 19,4 km/h (12.1 miles/h). New record to me! 🙂 It is getting colder in the water. The temperatures is still ok but pretty soon the wet suit I’m using will be to thin. Trent is using a dry suit from Ursuit that looks really nice for surfski paddling. I have ordered a different drysuit from Ursuit that I think is more suitable both for seakayaking and surfski paddling.
I have bought a new kayak, a surfski. After testing a number of surfskis recently, it’s a process in choosing a surfski, I decided for a surfski from Fenn Kayaks, the Mako XT. I really like the mix of stability, the speed and the sit comfort in the Mako XT. Surfsking is a new way of kayaking for me. I’m turning 39 next year and this is a part to prepare myself before my mid-life crisis start. Some people buy a fancy car or a HD. I bought a surfski! 🙂
