In beautiful Vesterålen, Norway, the Arctic Sea Kayak Race has been ongoing for a week with different activities. Today was the final day with the ICF World Cup Surfski race as the main event.
Last year’s winner Sean Rice together with Dawid Mocke and Joep van Bakel was the favourites for todays race. Sean reported to be ill for some day and had some concerns but he felt much better this morning.
Straight from the start Dawid, Sean and Joep took the top three positions. Today Sean was the strongest. Sean was really happy after the finish. His plan and tactic worked out very well.

The three stars in surfski Dawid Mocke, Joep van Bakel and Sean Rice has all arrived and will compete tomorrow in the ICF surfski event in the Vesterålen, Norway. The surfski race is a part of the Arctic Sea Kayak Race held here every year during the last week in July. Since last year has the Surfski race in Västerålen world cup status. The preparation before the race is following the normal routine before a race but it is hard to get used to the bright nights, says Dawid Mocke. It is almost daylight for 24 hours. The surroundings are really beautifulhere and hopefully will the weather be as good as it today.
These two surf-ski paddlers are opponents in tomorrow’s surfski race. Dawid Mock and Joep van Bakel are enjoying the sun in Skipnes, Norway. Both Dawid and Joep are very humble. Someone will win tomorrow, Joep replies on the question on who will win. I’m looking forward for the race tomorrow and hopefully I will get some nice shots from the race.
I’m having a day off from paddling today and are enjoying the preperation in Skipnes before the race tomorrow.
